Great value for the price, with a modern and spacious apartment overlooking the beach. The location was ideal, despite being a bit far from the center, and the staff treated us very well.
The breakfast experience could be improved with a wider variety of options.

Perfect location for us as we wanted to be out of the city and close to the beach. (You can't get any closer than the Sands to Tahunanui Beach). The Sands is located about half way between Nelson airport and the city so either way is less than a 10minute drive away. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable with everything anyone could ever need. Great bathroon with a fantastic shower too. We also loved the ease of entry to the apartment once we hired a car. We will most definately stay at "The Sands" again when in Nelson.

Worth its 4 stars. We ate at the hotel's family restaurant, liked it. It was nice to have sunny balcony. Send regards to property manager...

I would recommend this place as a great base for exploring with comfortable room furnishings and a restaurant located nearby.

The apartment was very spacious, clean, modern and had lovely views over the water. The location to cafe/ restaurants was great. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment which we really appreciated and enjoyed.

The staff were so chill and totally cool with us hanging out and having a blast. The room had a sick LCD TV, perfect for our movie marathons. And the best part? The beach was just a few steps away, like our own private paradise. We spent our days soaking up the sun and catching waves. It was lit!
The only thing we would've asked for is a banging party area. We had to sneak out to find the ultimate party vibes.

Service by the manager, comfort and location close to beach, city and shops made for a very comfortable and relaxing stay
Hot in summer but dual air conditioning compensates.

Neville was incredibly helpful/courteous. We had been travelling in NZ constantly for approx 3 weeks, so enjoyed our 2 days of relaxation at the Sands. The location was perfect, lovely outlook with plenty of dining and other facilities within arms reach. We will definitely be staying again, the next time will be for an extended stay. Can't recommend the Sands enough!

Had a lovely 3 night break away. The location was great, and the facilities excellent, so good that I was prepared to cook our meals, as there was such great views from the dining table! Neville who checked us in was very informative and friendly!

The view and quality of the accomodations. Clearly one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had.
Reception isn't staffed full time, so getting a hold of someone to check in can be difficult, especially if you don't have a mobile phone (particularly challenging if you are travelling from outside of New Zealand).
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
